Redeeming The Time

1 Peter 1:18-19: Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

Ephesians 5:16: Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Colossians 4:5: Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.

Only God can redeem souls. I trust He has redeemed yours. There is one tiny little thing He wants YOU to redeem for yourself and for Him. He wants you to redeem your time. He will help you do that. You can only do it if you have been redeemed. If you have not been redeemed (saved) all of your very person is being wasted. It follows automatically that your time is all wasted. A major problem with Christians is that we don*t redeem all of our time. We only redeem little parts of it. We waste so much of it.

There is something about time that we don*t often consider. It is a very special gift from Him. We cannot give it to ourselves. We can only use it. Whatever time we have He has given us. If we think of each moment, each hour and each day as a precious gift from Him, perhaps it will help us to waste less of our moments. He has given you this moment.

Do we realize how precious our time is. Do we realize that when it is gone it is gone. Do we realize it won*t be replaced. Do we realize that wasting any gift from God is an insult to Him. If we waste a spiritual gift such as preaching or teaching it is wrong. Time is also a gift. It is just as much a spiritual gift as the others. Often we don*t value our time until it is too late. Terminally ill individuals have a far better perspective about time than the rest of us.

By the way, resting when it is needed is not wasting time. It is part of redeeming the time. Rest is also a gift from God.

Psalms 127:2: It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Every decision we make and every action we take before praying over it can be a wasted decision or action. We might have to retrace our steps before we can go forward. Thank the Lord that He sometimes uses even the things that we waste.

Lord, help us to have the right perspective about our time RIGHT NOW and every moment.
